OK - so you move into a new apartment in Italy, and you get all the utilities set up. Standard items: power, internet, phone and so on. You make all the choices that are "usual", that includes a power contract for three Kilowatts. (That is a 3KW limit exceed this and your power goes off.) This is what the other people in this building have. So we get it too.
However, my habits as a consumer do not line up with this. I like to make dinner and do my wash at the same time. This goes OK at first, then blink, total silence and blackness. By now I have a flashlight by the door and I know where the power breaker is. Turn off everything then down the stairs in my slippers - around the corner unlock the box - flip the switch and back up again.
I am thinking my neighbors must be amazing power consumption planners. I am just not equal to this skill. In a couple of days the power will be increased to seven K. Watts. Then maybe their will be fewer trips down the stairs. One can only hope.
